Rising Australian sprint sensation Riley Day has narrowly missed out on the gold medal in the girls' 100m at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.
The 17-year-old Queenslander equalled her personal best of 11.59 seconds to claim the silver medal, finishing three hundredths of a second behind title winner Julien Alfred from St Lucia.
Riley shot to national prominence earlier this year when she raced against Usain Bolt at the inaugural Nitro Athletics series in Melbourne.
Fellow Australian Jake Doran was fifth in the boys' 100m final in the Bahamas.
Australia's other two medals on day two of the Youth Games came in the pool.
Ethan McAleese won bronze in the 400m individual medley and also anchored the mixed 4x200m team to third place.
Earlier in the day, Australia's female Rugby Sevens team progressed to the gold-medal match, where they will square off against Canada.
