Play has resumed after a lengthy delay on day two of the French Open, but Australian Arina Rodionova's first-round clash has already been washed out.
The first two-and-a-half hours of play were lost on Monday in Paris, as persistent heavy rain forced organisers to restructure the schedule - admitting players may be forced to play on consecutive days in order to clear the backlog.
Already facing a backlog of matches following a wet opening day in which just 10 of 32 scheduled clashes were completed, Tuesday's dire weather caused further headaches for the schedule-makers.
One of the casualties is 26-year-old Rodionova, whose clash with highly rated Croatian teenager Ana Konjuh has been pushed back to day three - where she will join fellow Australians Bernard Tomic, Sam Groth and Daria Gavrilova in action.
Young wildcard Jordan Thompson and John Millman are due to play their matches held over from Sunday, while Australia's top-ranked female Samantha Stosur is also still scheduled to get on court on Monday.
Tournament director Guy Forget said players had been displaying great patience in the face of the repeated weather delays, and conceded he may ask them to redouble their efforts once the sun returns.
"Tennis players are great professionals. They are familiar with difficult weather," Forget said.
"In the past we finished (the first round at) Wimbledon on a Saturday once - we had strawberries and cream and waited patiently.
"We hope that the first round will finish quickly. The weather is looking good for (Tuesday) and for the next day.
"But then if again, in the coming days the weather were to deteriorate, perhaps we would need to have the players play two days running.
"It would be sad, but the players know that and they accept it."
Weather for the rest of the week looks more settled, according to forecasts, although showers and thunderstorms are likely in the French capital at the weekend.
