SNAPSHOT OF THE BRITISH OPEN SECOND ROUND:

* PLAYER OF THE ROUND: English hope TOMMY FLEETWOOD carded a magnificent six-under-par 65, to sit one shot behind joint leaders Zach Johnson and Kevin Kisner.

* SHOT OF THE ROUND: On the third hole, defending champion JORDAN SPIETH was off the green and behind a mound. But he somehow chipped in for birdie to get his round off to a flying start and roar back into contention, finishing the day three shots off the pace.

* STAT OF THE ROUND: World No.1 Dustin Johnson is the first top-ranked player to miss the cut at The Open since Luke Donald at Royal St George in 2011.

* QUOTE OF THE ROUND: "I've been called Dustin many times. "I doubt he's been called Zach that many times." - Joint leader ZACH JOHNSON on outdoing his better-known namesake.

* TOURNAMENT SUMMARY: Johnson, the 2015 champion and Kisner lead the way ahead of the third round, but big guns Rory McIlroy (-4), Spieth and Rickie Fowler (-3) are among among the chasing pack.

* AUSSIE WATCH: Adam Scott (-1), Jason Day (even), Lucas Herbert (even), Cameron Davis (+1), Marc Leishman (+2), Cameron Smith (+2) and Brett Rumford (+2) all secured weekend tee times, but Matt Jones (+9) missed the halfway cut.
