Family First senator Bob Day has vowed to block all changes to superannuation over the next three years if re-elected.

The South Australian senator has proven to be one of the coalition government's strongest supporters since his election in 2013.

But he urged superannuants to declare a "winter of discontent" following proposed cuts to super concessions outlined in the May budget.

"Family First is committing to blocking every change to superannuation in the Senate for three years," Senator Day said.

He also rejected any proposal to be released by Labor during the election campaign.

"The major parties have become so short-term in their thinking that they forget that it was just eight years ago that many self-funded retirees saw their nest egg smashed by the global financial crisis," Senator Day said.

"Many still have not recovered, and a lot had to stall their intended retirement."
