The family of a teenager who died after being flung from her friend's car in Sydney say they will focus on completing her bucket list.

The family of teenager Kaileigh Fryer, who died after being flung from her friend's car in Sydney, say they will focus on completing her bucket list following the driver's sentence.

Kaileigh Fryer, 19, died after her friend Michael John Severino was drink driving while his speeding car rolled in Terrey Hills in the early hours of April 9 last year.

His decision to get behind the wheel of his car in an intoxicated state and speed through Sydney's north ended up killing his "best mate", Judge Donna Woodburne said at at Sydney's District Court on Tuesday.

Ms Fryer's mother Michelle told reporters the family was focused on healing and completing the "bucket list" the 19-year-old left behind.

The list went viral after her death with friends and strangers setting out to achieve some of her wishes.

Severino pleaded not guilty to aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death but a jury found him guilty earlier this month.

The 25-year-old was sentenced to maximum of six years and nine months and will be eligible for parole in 2019.
