Deaf Melbourne trio accused of murder

A deaf woman and two deaf men are accused of killing another man over a dispute about housework, a court has heard.

A deaf trio are accused of murdering a man over a housework dispute, a court has heard.

Robert Wright, 36, died in hospital on January 15 after he fell from a second floor balcony in Ringwood.

Georgia Fields, 18, of Ferntree Gully, Warrick Toohey, 36, of Ringwood and Jake Fairest, 26, of Boronia, have all been charged with his murder.

Each is also charged with stealing Mr Wright's iPad, bankcards and ID.

Prosecutor David Bosso told a Melbourne Magistrates Court hearing on Thursday the alleged motive was a simple matter of household duties.

The court heard 14 witnesses would give evidence at a committal hearing set down for three days in August.

Tim Smurthwaite, for Fields, raised concerns about the availability of interpreters for the hearing, as each of the accused would need to give instructions to their defence barristers.

"There is a pool of 10 Auslan interpreters in the state," Mr Smurthwaite said.

Toohey, Fields and Fairest were remanded into custody until August 17.
