The death of a young boxer has prompted new calls for boxing to be banned in Australia.

There are renewed calls for boxing to be banned in Australia following the death of a young fighter.

Boxer Braydon Smith died when his life support was turned off in a Brisbane hospital on Monday, less than two days after he lost a 10-round featherweight bout.

Dr Saxon Smith is the President of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Medical Association.

He told Hannah Sinclair as a doctor he can't support the contact sport.
