Del Piero committed to Sydney FC: Farina

Sydney FC coach Frank Farina says skipper Alessandro Del Piero is committed to the A-League club and won't be lured away in January transfer window.

Sydney FC coach Frank Farina says talk skipper Alessandro Del Piero is looking to leave the A-League club doesn't concern him and insists the Italian star is solely focused on the Sky Blues' finals tilt.

Speculation has been rife that Del Piero may leave Sydney before the end of the January transfer window, with the 39-year-old recently targeted by Thai Premier League side PTT Rayong.

Rumours earlier in the month even pointed to Del Piero fielding a lucrative offer from David Beckham's former club, LA Galaxy.

But Farina says with the Sky Blues still in the hunt for a finals berth, sitting just a point outside the top six, Del Piero isn't interested in going anywhere.

"I think the Thai club was most probably an older one that's been dragged back up again, but Alessandro's focus is here," Farina said on Friday.

"We're in a situation where we're still very much in the fight and close to everything so his focus is on Sydney FC at the moment.

"I'm not worried at the moment and I hope there's no need to (be)."

Farina says he's still looking to bolster his squad with a week left in the transfer window.

The Sky Blues lost the race to secure star striker Besart Berisha with the Roar forward committing to Melbourne Victory from next season.

But Farina says he harbours no ill feelings.

"No not at all, players make choices and decision and sometimes you win out and sometimes you miss, and unfortunately we missed this one."

Experienced defender Eddy Bosnar is currently training with Sydney and, off contract from his Chinese Super League club Guanzhou R&F, has expressed interest in joining the A-League.

But Farina played down talk he was looking to sign him.

"Eddy's asked if he can train with us for a week. I've got a lot of time for him as a player and glad to get him down and have look at him and let him have a look at us," he said.

"At this stage he's just training with us and it's as simple as that.

"Talking of signing is not even something that's been discussed."

The Sky Blues take on Melbourne Victory away on Sunday looking to end their five-game winless streak.

Farina says he will make some changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Central coast last week with pacey midfielder Hagi Gligor to start while forward Richard Garcia returns from injury.
