Less than a week out from taking on his beloved Juventus, Del Piero is keeping quiet.
“I don't want to say goodbye,” he said.
“Arrivederci is an Italian word, it's the perfect word for this moment.”
Outside his illustrious playing career – which has included winning the World Cup with Italy, 6 Scudetto titles with Juventus and a Champions League trophy – the Italian became the Woolmark Company’s first ever sports related spruiker for Merino wool.
“It’s a great company and I’m very happy,” he said.
“It’s a great connection between Australia first of all and Italy as well and that’s why its perfect.”
Del Piero turns 40 this year, but desire to play still burns deep.
“I want to play on and this is my target for this season, and at the end of this game I hope to decide what is my future,” he said.
The A-League All Stars take on Juventus in Sydney on Sunday.
