Delays at Tas airport after bomb scare

A bomb scare at Launceston airport has passengers facing considerable delays.

Travellers from Launceston airport are facing considerable delays after a suspicious car shut down the terminal.

Passengers were held on planes and the terminal building was evacuated because the owner of the car parked outside could not be found.

The scene has been cleared, police say.

But airport staff have asked those arriving for flights to be patient as they work through the delays.

"There will still be some backlog of passengers to process until we can get our schedule back on track," staff posted on the airport's Facebook page.
