Delhi hammer King's XI in IPL

Kings XI Punjab have fallen to an eight-wicket defeat to the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League on Friday.

Kings XI Punjab's Australian contingent endured a chastening evening in Delhi on Friday as the Daredevils stormed to a thumping eight-wicket IPL win.

Delhi skipper Zaheer Khan won the toss and elected to field and the decision was vindicated as the visitors, who fielded Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson in their side, scraped to a score of 9-111 from their 20 overs.

Marsh was the first of spinner Amit Mishra's four victims when he was stumped by Quinton de Kock for 13 and he was soon followed back in the pavilion by Maxwell who lasted just three balls before being caught by Carlos Braithwaite off Mishra without scoring.

Johnson was bowled for four by Chris Morris to leave his side struggling at 9-99 before some late hitting by Pardeep Sahu (15) took the total into three figures.

South African opener Quinton de Kock (59no) laid the foundations for a comfortable run chase with a quickfire 59 that contained nine fours and a six alongside Sanju Samson who scored 33.

Johnson struggled with the ball and finished with 3-28 off three overs as the Daredevils reached their target in just 13.3 overs.
