Deliberate fire destroys 1000 hay bales

A deliberately-lit fire has destroyed a shed and 1000 bales of hay on a rural Tasmanian property.

Two teenagers have been charged over a fire that destroyed a barn and 1000 hay bales in northern Tasmania.

The shed, on a rural property south of Burnie, was set alight in the early hours of Thursday, police say.

"The fire will take several days to be fully extinguished," investigators said in a statement.

Two 17-year-old boys have been charged with deliberately lighting the fire and destroying property and will be dealt with under the juvenile justice system.
