INDIAN WELLS, United States, March 10 AAP-AFP - Resurgent Australian tennis star Casey Dellacqua has scored one of the biggest wins of her career to advance to the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters.
Dellacqua outlasted world No.14 Roberta Vinci 4-6 6-4 6-3 to continue her golden run in 2014.
The 29-year-old went within a set of reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals and her victory on Sunday was her first over a top-15 rival since Wimbledon in 2008.
Dellacqua's blistering form has boosted her ranking from well outside the top 100 to 78th in the world and she'll rise further next week.
The West Australian next faces American qualifier Lauren Davis for a place in the last eight of the prestigious Masters Series event.
Meanwhile, second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland breezed into the fourth round with a 6-0 6-0 thumping of Germany's Annika Beck.
Radwanska, the world No.3 who is seeking a first title of 2014, needed 67 minutes to defeat the 48th-ranked German and advance to a fourth-round clash with France's Alize Cornet.
Cornet, seeded 22nd, battled for three hours and 26 minutes to beat 14th-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 6-3.
Samantha Stosur plays her fourth-round match on Monday (Tuesday AEDT) against Italian Flavia Pennetta.
Australia's last remaining hope in the men's draw, Marinko Matosevic, lost 7-6 (8-6) 5-7 6-4 to Spanish 16th seed Tommy Robredo in his second-round match on Sunday.
Second seed Novak Djokovic won the 550th match of his career, 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 over Victor Hanescu to progress to the third round.
Tomas Berdych became the most notable upset victim, the fourth seed losing to Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut 4-6 6-2 6-4.
The Czech, who a week ago played the Dubai final against Roger Federer and won three weeks ago in Rotterdam, confessed to a poor day at the office in nearly two and a half hours of struggle.
"Anything I touched today was basically bad and was wrong," he said.
"It was definitely the worst match that I had this year."
French eight seed Richard Gasquet made an easy start when Teimuraz Gabashvili retired hurt trailing 6-3 2-0. But ninth-seeded compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lost in an upset to countryman Julien Benneteau 6-4 6-4.
John Isner, seeded 12th, scored a rare American win as he beat Russian veteran Nikolay Davydenko 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, firing 15 aces while never facing a break point.
