Australian Casey Dellacqua has defeated Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino 7-5 6-3 to reach the French Open second round.

Dellacqua secured victory in one hour and 22 minutes on Tuesday to set up a second round clash with either Czech 23rd seed Lucie Safarova or Luxembourg's Mandy Minella.

The 29-year-old, whose ranking his improved steeply to 48 on the back of a strong season, joins compatriot Samantha Stosur in the second round.
