Demand for labourers in decline

Job advertisements on the internet rose by 0.9 per cent in August for an increase of 7.8 per cent over the year in seasonally adjusted terms.

Out-of-work labourers in the Northern Territory might need to consider a career change.

New figures show demand for labourers across the nation was the weakest occupation in terms of job advertising on the internet in August - falling 3.7 per cent - while the NT was the only jurisdiction to post a decline in employment opportunities in the month, down 5.7 per cent.

Overall, job ads rose 0.9 per cent in August for an annual growth rate of 7.8 pert cent, according to new Department of Employment data released on Wednesday.
