Demand for labourers tumbles 11%

Job advertisements on the internet eased 0.1 per cent in June to be 1.7 per cent lower over the year.

For all the talk of a home building boom, demand for labourers has dropped sharply.

The Department of Employment's latest vacancy report shows job advertisements on the internet for labourers tumbled 11 per cent in June.

Overall vacancies declined 0.1 per cent in the month to be 1.7 per cent lower in seasonally adjusted terms over the year.
