Melbourne's Bernie Vince isn't short of motivation when it comes to this Sunday's clash with Fremantle.
There's the chance to win two in a row for the first time in four seasons.
Against Fremantle, they'll have the chance to test themselves against a genuine premiership contender for the first time this season.
Popular teammate Jack Watts' 100th game is a milestone that Vince is eager to get up for.
And for Vince personally, there's the chance to go toe-to-toe with the Brownlow Medal favourite Nat Fyfe.
The Vince-Fyfe match-up has the potential to be a show-stopper at the MCG, pitting the league's most talked about tagger against the red hot Docker.
Two weeks ago, Vince locked down former teammate Patrick Dangerfield to great acclaim.
He knows the scale of the challenge Fyfe presents.
"He's been on fire," Vince said.
"He can play anywhere on the ground, back, forward, mid, anywhere, he could probably ruck as well if they chucked him in there.
"I don't do a lot of homework on opposition players, probably not enough, but there's no real weaknesses in his game."
Vince, 29, is the obvious candidate to repeat his shut-down job on Fyfe but said coach Paul Roos could rotate players on the shaggy-haired midfielder.
"There'll be a few guys that will have to go to him I'd say," he said.
"It's not just Fyfe either ... gone are the days when you shut one gun midfielder down and you stop the team.
"They've got a gun midfield and have guns all over the field."
The last time the Demons took back to back victories in 2011, Fremantle and Richmond were also the victims.
Under Dean Bailey, the Demons kicked 22 goals against Mark Harvey's Dockers for an 89-point win before backing up to lead Richmond all day and win in front of 61,900 people.
Fremantle are the only unbeaten side in the competition and start a horror three-week stretch for the Demons.
After Sunday they prepare for Sydney and Hawthorn but Vince said the Demons had steeled themselves.
"We're certainly going to have our work cut out but we'll be having a crack," he said.
"These are teams that we rate really highly, (they are) well coached, well drilled.
"We want to be like these teams."
