Four years after Melbourne last won two AFL games in a row, coach Paul Roos says it's time to capitalise on their improved form.
The Demons will host St Kilda on Sunday at the MCG, only five weeks after they played at Etihad Stadium.
Leigh Montagna kicked a goal in the last minute in round 11 and St Kilda won by two points.
The Demons have won two games since and, apart from one bad quarter against West Coast, they have been competitive.
They are coming off a scrappy win over Brisbane and Roos wants to generate momentum towards the end of the season.
"It's pretty important - we haven't been able to do it, certainly in my time," he said of achieving consecutive wins.
"We've probably strung our best five weeks of footy together, but we've only got two wins.
"From a consistency point of view, it's there.
"It's certainly a lot better than in any other time in my time here."
Like the Saints, Melbourne are rebuilding and have shown signs of life this season.
They have five wins apiece.
On Friday, St Kilda announced that coach Alan Richardson had signed a two-year contract extension through to the end of the 2018 season.
But later in the day, Richardson also revealed that talented young midfielder Jack Billings will probably not play again this season because of a hot spot in his shin injury.
"I see two clubs that are heading in the right direction, that have a good blend of experience and some really good young talent," Richardson said.
"Both have been really strong defensively and they've been outstanding in contests."
Veteran small forward Adam Schneider will return for the Saints, while Melbourne have recalled former captain Jack Grimes and Viv Michie.
