Jesse Hogan underwent scans on a sore finger but the Melbourne key forward is upbeat it is nothing serious.
Hogan was sent for scans following a career-best haul of seven goals against St Kilda in round six.
The 21-year-old, who sits equal sixth in the Coleman medal race, called it a check-up.
"It's just a little finger thing so should be no stress, it's just real precautionary," Hogan said.
The retention of Hogan remains one of the Demons' top priorities, with the talented youngster contracted until the end of the 2017 season.
Hogan was Melbourne's best player in their 39-point loss to St Kilda, the latest reminder of his immense talent.
"He got criticised after the Essendon game for his body language and he's really worked hard over the last month," coach Paul Roos said.
"We've been really happy with the amount of contests he's been getting to and it was a reward for that three-week effort that he's put in on the training track.
"He really puts in ... I was really happy with his game. It's great when you see a young kid working really hard at his craft and then getting some reward."
The Demons face Gold Coast on Saturday.
