Demons suffer Melksham foot fracture blow

While Melbourne have lost Jake Melksham for up to five weeks with a foot fracture, the news is more promising on Michael Hibberd and Jordan Lewis.

Melbourne forward Jake Melksham is out of AFL action for up to five weeks with a foot fracture.

Melksham suffered the injury in Saturday's miraculous one-point win over Gold Coast, when he accidentally made contact with opponent David Swallow while kicking the ball.

"Jake's got a fracture mid-foot which is reasonably significant, so he's probably going to take at least four to five weeks," Demons performance manager Dave Misson told the club website.

But the news is more promising for defenders Michael Hibberd and Jordan Lewis.

Hibberd needed surgery on a broken collarbone after a collision, also with Swallow.

But he might only be out of action for two weeks, rather than four.

Lewis might also be available for Friday night's match in Perth against West Coast after coming back to Melbourne on crutches with a rolled ankle.

Misson said Lewis will be tested later in the week.
