Australian Martin Dent has recorded his third straight top-30 finish in a major championships marathon, crossing the line in 23rd place at the world titles in Moscow.
Dent, 34, clocked two hours 17 minutes and 11 seconds on a warm, sunny day in the Russian capital.
Stephen Kiprotich from Uganda became the only second man to hold the Olympic and world marathon titles concurrently, registering a winning time of 2:09:51.
Ethiopians filled the next three places, with the minor medals going to Lelisa Desisa (2:10:12) and Tadese Tola (2:10:28).
Dent has proved a model of consistency in the marathon at major championships, having finished 21st at the 2009 world titles in Berlin and 28th at last year's London Olympics.
By finishing inside the top 24, Dent gained automatic selection for next year's Commonwealth Games marathon in Glasgow.
Fellow Australian Shawn Forrest was 50th in 2:39:09, becoming the last runner to finish Saturday's marathon inside the Luzhniki Stadium.
