The workload of Age Discrimination Commissioner Susan Ryan will get a whole lot bigger this month, when she takes on the additional responsibility of protecting the rights of people with disability.
It follows the federal government's controversial budget decision to do away with a dedicated full-time Disability Discrimination Commissioner and have a commissioner with dual responsibilities instead.
Graeme Innes has just ended his term in that post.
