Detainees on Manus given curfew

Offshore immigration detainees on Manus Island have been placed under a curfew, according to a notice published by refugee Behrouz Boochani.

Refugees and asylum seekers being held on Manus Island have been warned to comply with a new curfew or risk being reported to police.

Detainees were on Friday informed they would no longer be allowed to leave their accommodation blocks after 6pm each night.

"Security service providers will ensure those who breach this direction (are) reported to the Royal PNG Constabulary," the country's chief migration officer said, in a notice posted to Twitter by Iranian journalist and refugee Behrouz Boochani.
