Italy international forward Alessandro Diamanti has agreed on terms to move to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, his Serie A club Bologna confirmed Friday.
Talks between both clubs have been ongoing for some time, with Guangzhou coach Marcello Lippi playing a leading role in luring Diamanti to the Chinese Super League side.
Guangzhou released a statement about the transfer in the early hours of Friday morning and Bologna later confirmed the move on their official website.
"Bologna has reached agreement with Guangzhou Evergrande F.C. for the permanent transfer of Alessandro Diamanti," read the statement.
Bologna club president Albano Guaraldi had revealed recently that Diamanti had been pressuring the club to agree to his departure, a situation that led some fans to call on the club to sell the wantaway striker.
Diamanti is believed to have signed a three-year agreement with Guangzhou worth up to eight million euros ($10.9 million) to the Italian club.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has been capped 17 times by Italy.
