Diamond meet podiums for Stratton, Roberts

Australians Brooke Stratton and Kelsey-Lee Roberts have finished third in the long jump and javelin respectively at the London Diamond League meet.

Australian long jumper Brooke Stratton and javelin thrower Kelsey-Lee Roberts have both recorded podium finishes at the London Diamond League athletics meet.

Stratton recorded a best jump of 6.76m to finish third behind winner Shara Proctor from Britain (6.91m) at the London Olympic Stadium.

Roberts - who like Stratton claimed the silver medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April - was third in the javelin with 64.11m.

Huihui Lyu from China won with 65.54m.

The other standout Australian on the opening day of the two-day meet came from rising star Kurtis Marschall who was fourth in the men's pole vault with a best clearance of 5.80m - 10cm better than his winning height at the Commonwealth Games.

American Sam Kendricks, the reigning world champion, claimed the win with 5.92m.
