Dimitrov bows out of Open in straight sets

Grigor Dimitrov has been knocked out of the French Open with a straight-sets defeat to Fernando Verdasco.

Fourth seed Grigor Dimitrov is out of the French Open after a third-round defeat by Fernando Verdasco.

The Bulgarian won the ATP Tour Finals in London last year but his wait for a grand slam title will go on after a 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 6-4 loss.

Spaniard Verdasco, seeded 30, has now reached the fourth round at Roland Garros seven times, but he has yet to progress any further.

Dimitrov was pushed to five sets by American Jared Donaldson in the previous round and once he failed to convert four set points in the 12th game of the opener against Verdasco and lost the ensuing tiebreak, he looked flat.
