Dita Von Teese has advised women to dress "nonchalantly".
The 41-year-old burlesque star is never seen looking anything less than glamorous. She has an old-school Hollywood vibe about her thanks to her pale skin, black hair and love of red lipstick.
She also dresses immaculately and is a known love of pretty lingerie. However, the star thinks it's important for people to know her look is for her alone and not about pleasing men.
"Seduction is at its finest when it's nonchalant. You have to make him believe that you just are that way. So when you think, 'I'm going to try some garter belts on for him, and I think he'll like this colour,' you've missed the whole point," she told harpersbazaar.com.
"But if you're indulging in things that make you feel good about yourself, and that are also beautiful and luxurious and fit you well - things that you would wear every day whether or not someone's looking - that's when it becomes natural and effortless."
Von Teese has previously released a cosmetics line to help her fans achieve her signature look. The most recognisable part of it is her lipstick, which is always a bold red shade.
The star prides herself on never leaving home without it in place, although the rest or her look can be done within five minutes.
"That red lipstick gives me the power to look polished. I wear super velvety matte lipsticks, like MAC's Ruby Woo and Lady Danger. They make for the most kiss-proof, food-proof lip," she advised.
