Greek teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas has sent Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic packing in the third round of the Rogers Cup in Canada with a stunning 6-3 6-7 (7-5) 6-3 win.

A confident Tsitsipas sent a blistering forehand to the back corner while the ninth-seeded Serbian was heading the other way on his first match point, looking at his box in disbelief.

"It's a dream of any kid out there in this world, any kid that's playing tennis, to beat these kinds of players, so I can call it the best moment of my life," a shocked Tsitsipas said on Thursday.

"I never expected to beat such a top-ranked player and such a high-respected player like Novak."

The Greek teen made some crucial errors near the end of the second set that allowed Djokovic, a four-time winner of the tournament, to set up a decider.

However, Tsitsipas did well to break Djokovic for a 2-0 lead in the third set and never looked back.

Tsitsipas now faces defending champion Alexander Zverev in the final eight after the German routed Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

The world No.3 won 96 per cent of points on his first serve to claim a 6-3 6-2 win in just 53 minutes.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal battled past an improving Stan Wawrinka 7-5 7-6 (7/4).

The world No.1 faced impressive one-handed backhands from his opponent but tracked down every ball.

Sixth seed Marin Cilic awaits in the quarter-finals following his speedy defeat of Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 6-3 6-2.

Kevin Anderson beat Ilya Ivashka 7-5 6-3 but his Wimbledon semi-final opponent John Isner didn't fare as well, losing 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (7/0) to Karen Khachanov.

Grigor Dimitrov will face Anderson next after finding some of his best serving to beat Frances Tiafoe 7-6 (7/1) 3-6 7-6 (7/4).

Veteran Dutchman Robin Haase advanced to the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year, beating Denis Shapovalov 7-5 6-2.
