Do we need a minerals resource rent tax?

The federal government has cleared the way for its minerals resource rent tax (MRRT) to pass through the lower house of parliament after agreeing to lift the threshold by 50 per cent. What do you think of MRRT and has your opinion changed as fears grow of another global financial crisis?
