Star Fremantle midfielder Nat Fyfe will be rested for Sunday's AFL clash with GWS at Domain Stadium.

Fyfe has been struggling with a corked right thigh since copping an errant knee from Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell three weeks ago.

Dockers coach Ross Lyon says he will rest Fyfe this week, with hopes the 23-year-old will return for next week's clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

Fyfe remains the raging favourite to win this year's Brownlow medal after producing a stunning start to the season.

But he has struggled to produce his best form since copping the knock to his leg against Hawthorn.

Despite this, Fyfe still managed to play influential roles in recent wins over Carlton and Richmond, although he has been forced to spend more time resting up forward.

Midfielder Clancee Pearce is expected to face the Giants despite suffering a partial dislocation of his shoulder in the win over Richmond.

The Dockers remain a win clear on top of the table, but their clash with West Coast on August 16 is set to have a large say in whether they finish in the top two.
