Fremantle midfielder Anthony Morabito has dodged a bullet after scans cleared him of any serious damage to his troublesome left knee.

Morabito reportedly broke down in tears after injuring his reconstructed left knee during the club's closed training session on Thursday.

The 22-year-old was immediately sent for scans, but later cleared of any major damage.

"The scans confirmed that it was not a structural injury and would only require a two-to-four week rehabilitation program," the club said in a statement.

Morabito has already undergone three knee reconstructions, and a fourth could have spelled the end of his stop-start career.

Although the powerful wingman is now no chance of appearing in Fremantle's finals campaign, he can at least look forward to making an impact next season.

In all, 2014 has been a positive year for Morabito.

The first-round draft pick played 16 times in the WAFL for Peel Thunder, and also made three appearances for the Dockers before signing a one-year contract extension.

Morabito appeared destined for stardom after enjoying a breakout debut campaign in 2010, playing 23 games in the Dockers' run to the semi-finals.

But when his knee buckled at training a few months later, it ushered in a problem that has dogged him ever since.

In January last year, Morabito underwent a hybrid lars procedure in order to save his career, and he hopes to rediscover his best football next year.
