Docker Sandilands on road to recovery

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has become the latest person at the AFL club to be struck down by the flu.

After having his dose of lemon and honey tea, Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands is expected to return for Saturday night's AFL clash with Adelaide at Patersons Stadium.

Sandilands missed last week's loss to Richmond after being grounded by a bout of flu.

The bug has gone through the club in recent weeks, with Fremantle coach Ross Lyon the latest person to be struck down.

But Sandilands has recovered well in recent days and is expected to prove his fitness at Thursday's main training session.

"He's had his lemon and honey drink. He had the chicken soup and antibiotics. I think he's OK," a blocked up Lyon said on Wednesday.

Defender Nick Suban is also on track to return from a calf injury, while small forward Josh Mellington is in line for a recall after tallying 25 possessions and 2.4 in the WAFL over the weekend.

The Dockers sit a game and percentage adrift of fourth-placed Sydney, but remain well in the hunt for a top-four spot given their soft draw in the remaining six games.

After taking on Carlton in Melbourne next week, the Dockers round out the season with games against GWS (home), Melbourne (MCG), Port Adelaide (home) and St Kilda (ES).

Star Crows midfielder Patrick Dangerfield is only a small chance to return from a shoulder injury against the Dockers, but Lyon said he would plan for his presence nonetheless.

Fremantle copped a 40-23 smashing in the crucial clearance battle against Richmond last week, and Lyon said his team couldn't afford a repeat performance.

Adelaide enter the match full of confidence following last week's shock win over Geelong.

But the 11th-placed Crows are still two wins adrift of eighth spot and in desperate need of back-to-back wins.
