Generation next is fast taking over at Fremantle, but Rising Star nominee Lachie Weller says it's too early to get carried away just yet.
The Dockers' nightmare AFL season has brightened somewhat over the past fortnight following big wins over Essendon and Brisbane.
Emerging stars Weller, Connor Blakely, Sam Collins, Darcy Tucker, Hayden Crozier, and Matt Taberner played key roles in the victories, fuelling hopes the Dockers won't need a long rebuild.
Blakely was nominated for the Rising Star last week after tallying 25 disposals against the Bombers, while Weller earned the nod this week for his four-goal, 22-possession effort against the Lions.
In the previous four seasons, Taberner was the only other Docker to earn a Rising Star nomination.
Key players such as Nat Fyfe (broken leg), Aaron Sandilands (ribs), Michael Johnson (hamstring/knee), and Harley Bennell (calf) will bolster the Dockers next season.
And although Fremantle have been heartened by the strong contributions of their young guns in recent weeks, Weller knows their challenge is to do it consistently.
"We're not getting carried away too much, because we need to do that against the good teams," Weller said ahead of Saturday's home clash with Port Adelaide.
"The future is really healthy.
"Darcy (Tucker) played really well on the weekend. Croz (Hayden Crozier) and Tommy (Sheridan) are going really well.
"Sammy Collins has come in and filled a really good role as well. The youth is coming through, which is really good."
Veteran forward Matthew Pavlich (groin) is set to return against the Power.
