A miniature schnauzer has walked up to 15 blocks to visit its cancer-stricken owner in hospital in the US.
Sissy disappeared from her house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, US, only to show up at Mercy Medical Centre where her owner, Nancy Franck, was recovering from ovarian cancer surgery.
"We looked up and there was this dog that was just running across the lobby," Mercy security guard Samantha Conrad told KCRG.
"We started looking at the tags and it had the address and we saw how far away this dog had lived, as far as going at least fifteen blocks to get here.
"So it was quite an amazing journey that this dog made."
Ms Conrad called the number on Sissy's tags and contacted Mrs Franck's husband Dale. He said he was devastated when he realised his dog had run away.
"She wanted to go see her mum," he said. "She was on a mission but she couldn't find the right elevator to take."
Sissy was eventually taken to see Mrs Franck, who was stunned when she discovered her pet found her way to a hospital she's never visited before.
