Country star Dolly Parton says she will adopt a dog named after her that was found abandoned at Britain's Glastonbury festival if the canine's owners don't come forward.
The white lurcher was christened Dolly after being found in a tent by volunteers cleaning up after a triumphant set by the Jolene and 9 to 5 singer at the rock extravaganza in southwest England.
Parton performed to around 100,000 people, the festival's biggest crowd, last Sunday.
Now Parton, 68, says she will adopt the animal if no-one else claims her.
"At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter. I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time," Parton said on Monday.
She added that she was "very honoured and flattered" that the dog had been named after her.
The Happy Landings animal shelter in Shepton Mallet, near the Glastonbury site, described Dolly the dog as "a sweet-natured older lady".
"She was found cowering in a small and stifling hot tent, clearly distressed, with some food provided but no water in her bowl," the shelter said in a statement.
"We are waiting to see if her owner will come forward, but in the meantime she is living with a member of staff."
