Placido Domingo to star in revival of Woody Allen's opera Gianni Schicchi

Opera singer Placido Domingo has landed the leading role in a revival of Woody Allen's Gianni Schicchi.

The Manhattan filmmaker made his operatic directorial debut in 2008 with the Los Angeles run of the comedic production.

The revival will begin its run at the Teatro Real in Madrid in June, 2015, as part of a double bill with Enrique Granados' Goyescas.

Allen is slated to direct the revival, according to Variety.com.
