'Dons says forward could play in AFL

Essendon forward Jake Carlisle went to hospital for scans after suffering a pinched nerve in his neck during Wednesday training.

Essendon have confirmed that AFL forward Jake Carlisle was sent to hospital after he suffered a neck injury at training.

But the Bombers insist he is still a chance to play in Friday night's game against North Melbourne.

Carlisle had the injury on Wednesday and went to hospital for scans.

"Carlisle pinched a nerve in his neck and despite suffering some discomfort he has recovered well today," the club said.

"The club's medical team exercised all necessary precautions to treat and determine the extent of the injury, which included sending Carlisle for scans at the Epworth Hospital."
