Don't vote One Nation: Nicholls

LNP leader Tim Nicholls has warned Queenslanders not to vote for One Nation while still refusing to say if he'd seek their support to form government.

LNP leader Tim Nicholls has taken a swipe at One Nation, saying the party's promises would sent the state further into debt, while still refusing to say if he would accept the party's support to form government.

During an address to the Queensland Media Club on Tuesday, Mr Nicholls urged voters to rethink if they were considering supporting the party or risk plunging the state into further financial disarray.

"Their commitments currently total over $18 billion," he told business and industry representatives in Brisbane.

"People thinking of voting for One Nation would or should be horrified to learn that under their plan debt will increase and fees, taxes and charges must rise.

"If you're thinking of voting for One Nation I suggest you rethink, because you're being led down the garden path by irresponsible candidates who have no idea what they're doing, let alone any experience in delivering."

His remarks towards the party, which have become more critical over the course of the campaign, came hours after he offered up a quick "pass" when asked on radio if he'd govern with their support.

Mr Nicholls agreed to participate in a quiz on Brisbane's Nova106.9 when the host threw him a curve ball question.

"Yes or no, would the LNP form government using One Nation support?" he was asked.

Quick as a flash, Mr Nicholls replied: "Pass."

Mr Nicholls drew howls from an audience of 100 undecided voters last week when he failed to say if he'd work with One Nation if the right-wing party ended up holding the balance of power.

Labor leapt on the LNP leader's flick pass, saying he was afraid to tell votes the truth, less than a week from polling day.

"The only thing that is clear is that Tim Nicholls will do a deal with One Nation but he is too scared to say it publicly," Labor's campaign spokesman Cameron Dick said in a statement.

In his slogan-heavy speech on Tuesday, Mr Nicholls attacked the Labor government, accusing Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk of lying to voters about power prices, changes to the voting system and her support for Adani's Carmichael coal mine.

"For the last three years Queensland has stood still, stuck in a time warp, and we all know that in a fast paced modern world, if you are standing still in fact you are going backwards," he said.

"We either grasp the future with both hands and build a better Queensland or we stare at another three more years of a do-nothing Labor government."

He ruled out privatisation and repeated his promise not to sell assets or force public sector redundancies, but again declined to lay bare his strategy to address rising debt or detail how he would fund his campaign promises.

Mr Nicholls left for Townsville straight after the media lunch event. He'll be involved in a leaders' debate with One Nation's state leader Steve Dickson and Rob Katter on Wednesday morning.
