Double World Cup crown for Aussie ace Fox

Australian Jessica Fox has capped an unbeaten C1 slalom World Cup campaign by adding the overall title to her K1 crown.

Jessica Fox has continued her historic form this year by claiming victory in the C1 event at the Canoe Slalom World Cup finals in Spain to seal the overall title.

The Aussie on Sunday became the first athlete to win every race - five - of the C1 slalom World Cup season.

It came a day after the 24-year-old secured her first K1 kayak overall World Cup crown.

"It's awesome, yesterday was the first time I've ever won the K1 title, and to back it up today, it's awesome to do the double," she said.

Fox made sure of the overall win with victory in la Seu d'Urgell.

Her time of 111.14 putting her just ahead of Great Britain's 2017 World Champion, Mallory Franklin, with her younger sister Noemie Fox seventh.

"2018 has been special," the now three-time C1 world champion Fox said.

"To finish off with five gold in the C1 and to put in a really hard run to finish off in La Seu was very special, and to win the overall World Cup in both categories is something I've never done.

"But the season is not over yet, we've still got the world championships, and that's the most important one.".

Rounding out a strong performance for Australia in Spain, 2016 Olympian Lucien Delfour took silver in the men's K1, his first World Cup medal since 2015.

"It could have been a gold but it wasn't quite fast enough and it was close and overall I had a good run," Delfour said.

The Australian will compete in the Canoe Slalom World Championships in Rio de Janeiro from September 25-30.
