Gold Coast prop Luke Douglas believes his Titans front-row partner Ryan James must be on the radar of NSW State of Origin selectors.
James continued his stellar 2016 form with another powerhouse display for the NRL surprise packets against Manly on Monday night.
The 24-year-old scored his sixth try of the season in the 30-10 romp at Robina, also picking up a try assist, 40 tackles and 141 running metres in a 68-minute display.
Douglas has long believed James has all the attributes to play at the highest level and is now performing to a standard where he should be in contention for a Blues jersey.
"He's got to be starting to get looked at now," Douglas told AAP.
"He's in everything. He's giving effort on effort and playing long minutes.
"He's got the speed. He's got the power. He's got all the attributes ... he should be carving the NRL up and he's starting to do that at the moment. Showing how good he is."
Monday's win was the Titans' seventh of the campaign and lifts them back in the top eight as they aim to end a finals drought stretching back to 2010.
Former Cronulla bookend Douglas himself has only made two finals appearances in his 252-game NRL career and he is relishing the prospect of another crack at September football.
"I won't be taking it for granted, that's for sure, I've only made the finals one year," he said.
"We're not getting ahead of ourselves. There's still ages to go, it's just a matter of building on that performance."
