Douglas re-signs with Crows until 2018

Adelaide midfielder Richard Douglas has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Crows.

Adelaide's Richard Douglas has joined fellow high-profile midfielder Rory Sloane in pledging his allegiance to the Crows for another three years.

The day after Sloane re-signed until the end of 2018, Douglas resisted the lure of being a free agent to follow suit.

The 28-year-old, who has clocked 160 matches since his AFL debut in 2005, said the new deal would effectively make him a one-club player.

"I have always admired players who have stayed true to one club and this all but guarantees I am a Crow for life," Douglas said.

"Everyone at our club likes the direction in which we are heading and this playing group is yet to realise its full potential.

"We are desperately chasing team success and I want to do all I can to help."

It means the Crows are just waiting on the signature of star Patrick Dangerfield, who is out of contract at season's end.

List manager David Noble would not be drawn on the issue on Monday, but if Dangerfield were to leave as a free agent Geelong shapes as the most likely destination.

On Douglas, coach Phil Walsh said he had never questioned the commitment of his charge who has been out with a foot injury.

"Injury has cost him a few matches this year but no-one could question his attention to detail and work ethic during the recovery phase," Walsh said.

"Richard is a really important player for us and his experience will be invaluable in the second half of the season and beyond."
