Downer to face off against Sharkie, again

Former diplomat and lawyer, Georgina Downer, has won preselection to once more contest the federal seat of Mayo at the next election.

Failed by-election contender Georgina Downer has won the South Australian Liberals preselection to re-contest the seat of Mayo at the next federal election.

Ms Downer will once again face off against Centre Alliance MP Rebekha Sharkie in the fringe Adelaide seat, with the South Australian Liberals announcing her preselection by Twitter on Saturday.

"Well done Georgina Downer winning preselection for Mayo," tweeted the candidate's father, former Liberal foreign minister Alexander Downer.
