Dragons' de Belin faces one-week NRL ban

The NRL match review committee have hit St George Illawarra forward Jack de Belin with a grade-one dangerous contact charge for a crusher tackle.

St George Illawarra's spiralling NRL season has copped another blow after key forward Jack de Belin was slapped with a one-game ban for a crusher tackle.

De Belin was on Monday hit with a grade-one dangerous contact charge for his tackle on Parramatta forward Kenny Edwards in Sunday's loss to the Eels.

Unless de Belin overturns the charge at the NRL judiciary, he will miss the Dragons' next clash against Newcastle on Sunday.

Meanwhile, forward Tim Grant has been rubbed out for the Wests Tigers' match against the Gold Coast on Friday.

Grant has opted not to contest a dangerous throw charge on Paul Gallen in Saturday's loss to Cronulla and will spend a week on the sidelines.
