English Super League giants Catalans Dragons have confirmed the signing of Titans prop Dave Taylor, saying the two-year deal secured with the ex-Australia Test star was fantastic news for the club.
Dragons coach Laurent Frayssinous, who lured Todd Carney to the south of France at the end of last season, said the Perpignan club was delighted to attract such a quality player to the Super League.
"He will help us to make one step forward thanks to his experience at the very top level," said Frayssinous. "His speed, agility and capacity to offload combined with his size will make him a good weapon for us."
The 27-year-old front rower, who won six Origin caps for Queensland and made his Test debut in 2012, told his Titans teammates he was moving to Super League in 2016 after his side's 24-12 win over Parramatta on Monday.
Taylor, whose 6ft 1in, 19-stone frame earns him the nickname of the "Coal Train", joined Gold Coast from South Sydney on a four-year contract three years ago and has been released from his last season with them.
"I'm really excited about this next phase of my playing career and can't wait to join the Catalans Dragons," said Taylor, who began his NRL career with Brisbane Broncos. "I have always had a desire to play in the Super League and I can't think of a better side to be playing for.
"My wife Ash and our two young daughters are extremely excited about the opportunity to live in such a wonderful city like Perpignan. It will also be amazing for us to be able to enjoy the culture of such an amazing country like France together as a family.
"I can't wait to run out on the pitch next season in front of the supporters and do my best to hopefully win some silverware for the Catalans Dragons."
Taylor is the Catalans' third big-name recruit for 2016 following the signing of former Wigan winger Pat Richards from Wests Tigers and England scrum-half Richie Myler from Warrington.
Leaving the Dragons though is hooker Ian Henderson who will move to the Sydney Roosters where he will link up with his former coach Trent Robinson.
