Drink driving P-plater hits Vic man

A P-plater blew more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit after he hit a man with his car at a Victorian campsite.

A drink-driving P-plater has hit a man with his car after an altercation at a Victorian campsite.

An 18-year-old Kangaroo Flat man was asked to leave a party at a camping area at 2am on New Year's Day.

He returned to the campsite at Torrumbarry, near Echuca on the Murray River, at 4am but drove off after an altercation, hitting a 20-year-old Mt Burnett man with his car as he was leaving.

The victim was taken to Echuca Regional Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The P-plate driver blew a blood alcohol reading of .112, more than twice the legal limit, and is expected to be summonsed on a series of drink-driving charges, police said.
