Dropping swell stalls surfing's Fiji Pro

A lay day has been called at the Fiji Pro surfing tournament due to unfavourable conditions.

Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson will have to wait at least another day to join fellow Australian stars Matt Wilkinson and Julian Wilson in the fourth round of surfing's Fiji Pro.

A lay day has been called at Cloudbreak on Tuesday due to inconsistent and dropping swell.

A day earlier, Australian co-world No.2 Owen Wright suffered a shock elimination in round three to Brazil's Ian Gouveia.

World no.4 Wilkinson defeated Brazilian Miguel Pupo to progress on Monday, while Wilson knocked out Frederico Morais of Portugal.

Fanning will meet French Polynesian Michal Bourez for a spot in the fourth round, while Parkinson is due to face Frenchman Jeremy Flores.
