Drought headlines Scott Morrison's agenda

Australia's next prime minister Scott Morrison has touched on a range of policy areas he intends to tackle, headlined by drought relief.

INCOMING PRIME MINISTER SCOTT MORRISON'S PLANS

DROUGHT

* Morrison's top priority is meeting national drought co-ordinator Major-General Stephen Day (retired) to review the government's plans to tackle the big dry.

ELECTRICITY PRICES

* Continue to consider ways to bring down energy bills.

HEALTHCARE

* Morrison said he's "distressed" by chronic illness in Australia.

* He also nominated affordable medicines, aged care and Medicare as priorities.

ECONOMY

* Support for enterprise ethic and a fair go for small and medium businesses.

WELFARE

* Said he's a "big fan" of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and is keen to see it well funded.

NATIONAL SECURITY

* A key concern for Morrison, a former hard-nosed immigration minister.
