Ice-impacted drivers are doing more damage on the roads than drink-drivers, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.

He cited Victorian figures showing there were 39 ice-related road fatalities in 2013 compared to 24 alcohol-related road fatalities.

"What we are demonstrating today is the need for more roadside drug testing," Mr Abbott told reporters in Canberra on Monday.
