Drunk driver blames hamburgers

A Melbourne drunk driver who was caught travelling at double the speed limit has told police he was speeding so his dinner wouldn't get cold.

A drunk driver rushing home so his hamburgers wouldn't get cold has been clocked at double the speed limit in Melbourne.

The 35-year-old man, who was caught doing 123km/h on Sydney Road on Sunday night, told police he wanted to get his burgers home before they went cold.

He blew 0.162 and his car has been impounded for a month.
