Dugan denied second time to prove fitness

Josh Dugan will hope NSW State of Origin selectors have seen enough to back his fitness on return from injury, with the team being selected Monday morning.

A scheduling decision has denied NSW's reigning player of the series, Josh Dugan, one last chance to push for a recall ahead of the July 13 Origin dead rubber in Sydney.

The NSW Rugby League have confirmed they will announce their team for the third match of the series on Monday morning, hours before Dugan's St George Illawarra take on Manly.

It means Dugan will have played just one match for the Dragons, last week against Newcastle, since he was ruled out of the opening Origin game with an elbow injury and required an operation.

The side for the Blues' opening game of the Origin series was announced on a Monday morning, but the NSWRL bowed to pressure ahead of the second game to change the team announcement to after the Monday night game.

It allowed a number of players from the Dragons, Canterbury, Cronulla and North Queensland to complete their club duties before being notified of their selection.

The organisation's decision means incumbents Dylan Walker and Tyson Frizell also won't play another game before the side is announced.

Manly youngster Tom Trbojevic, who has been one of the players at the centre of calls for an up-and-coming side to be selected, also won't play again before the announcement.
